There is, however, a downside to writeback-disabled mode: if memory pressure is high and a cgroup is generating a lot of incompressible data, reclaimers can end up in a pathological loop – repeatedly attempting to compress the same incompressible pages, failing, cycling them back to the active list, and trying again.
